He should be with people who treat him with respect, politeness, truth. This includes the parent/teacher's not pretending to know everything or acting as if he has arrived and is morally or spiritually perfect. If we are truthful about our own knowledge/intellectual limitations, this fresh air of trust and openness will help the child accept himself. It will help him strive for what is right and good. We prefer the company of others like ourselves, to the intimidation of a superman or woman who makes us feel rotten. ......
"I am!" I am a person of unique worth. I can have a relationship with the eternal God and the whole of reality of which He has created me to be a part. I live in a fallen world, and it affects me in different ways. I expect and understand that. I can be realistic about the truth about myself. I don't feel guilty about enjoying the whole of life. I am. I am finite, can't know it all or do it all - but I am God's child. I am dependent. Yet, He trusts me, lets me have responsibility and abundant life. I accept my freedom within His laws. My perspectives are not limited by this side of death. I am born to live eternally, and my destination is not limited by my college education, my salary, or what other people think. I am, in a sense, alone before God. He gave me my own separate life, and He will direct me into the right path for me. This is my aim, my ambition.
