The PVA

The Parent Volunteer Association co-ordinates parent involvement in the life of the school. Hands-on help is always needed at school events like Open Days, Grandparents Days, and the end-of-year class lunches. The PVA also runs fundraising events and work parties where people put their skills to good use in fellowship with others.

Scenes above show parents and children working and celebrating together in joyful fellowship at our annual Market Day.

Being involved in the PVA is one way for parents to get to know one another, build relationships with teachers, and create a sense of family. It is said 'It takes a village to raise a child' and our school and school families form part of that village of caring people.

Parent Testimonies

Kirsty and Leighton Ronné - parents of three girls (two still at The Vine School and one who is now in high school)

We chose The Vine School because of its intentional approach to education. What we have seen over the past 7 years at the school, is that this unique method has instilled a real love for learning in each of our children, and as they have matured, this has translated into a self motivated attitude towards their work. I think it also has a lot to do with the fact that all subjects are taught by encouraging deep engagement with the subject matter and is therefore interesting and inspiring for our children. We love that the focus is not just on academics, although the quality of academic learning is excellent. Learning is focused on developing the whole child, including character and understanding who they are in Christ.

Our boys were at The Vine School for 5 years or so. We were thrilled that they loved school and loved being there. The school is committed to a thoroughly Biblical Christian education, which shapes not just in the assembly each morning but the entire philosophy, approach and content of the education process. We love the emphasis on developing character, a love for learning and the natural talents God has given each child. And we love the love and concern the staff has for the children – they really do care for each and every child.

When we moved to another province our boys proved the value of the foundations laid at The Vine School. They have excelled in academics, leadership and sport.

Donna Oakes

The Vine School has been one of the best school choices we have made for our 3 kids. We decided to change because our second born was not only struggling with academics but more so with self-esteem. She was shy, always in the background and struggled to make friends. I remember her saying on her first day at The Vine, "Mom, what if they don't like me?" I told her that Jesus made a way for her to start her school experience again, new friends, new teachers, new everything. Two years later and what a contrast! She is outspoken, confident and makes friends wherever she goes. The Vine is not "just" a school. The teachers are like second parents. They ensure our kids excel academically but also give them tools for life, embodying one of Charlotte Mason’s principles, "moral principles will lead the child to make right decisions"

We are so grateful to the staff and school for the active role and impact they have made on us as a family.

Since enrolling our daughter at The Vine School in 2022, we have watched her grow significantly from being a shy little girl who didn’t say much to now being confident in expressing herself. Not only has she found her voice but by the grace of God, through the rich Christian ethos and the teachings they receive at TVS in building sustainable healthy habits, she has developed a character that has enabled her to start blossoming into the young person that God created her to be. We are witnessing the love for reading, bible narration and the curiosity for learning increasing daily.

The support and prayers we have received from the teachers and staff of The Vine School is indeed a reflection of God’s love, the true Vine. It is indeed a privilege and honour to be part of The Vine School family.

Two years ago we were looking for a school for our 5 year old son and God directed us to The Vine School which stood out at the time because of its Christian ethos.

Over the past two years we have learned a lot about what Christian parenting and education looks like as we cultivate our children’s minds. The Vine School’s Book Club where we read “For the children's sake” demonstrated to us the love the school has and how it takes seriously the unity and relationship between parent, teacher and child; indeed it takes a village to raise a child

The love of learning has helped our son grow in character, reasoning, maturity (when it comes to relating to others), and curiosity in exploring and learning through great works of literature, nature, music and art. And how the awareness of God and His creation is sparked through education.

As parents we have learnt that learning/teaching is not a one way stream of parents teaching children since from our son's books, recitations and bible studies, we find ourselves captured numerous times. A month ago we discovered Benjamin Franklin, from a story in the Grade 1 reading book, that left us curious and interested. We found ourselves doing research on Benjamin Franklin's biography: his life and all that he invented. This is all because of the living books the children are exposed to, consistent intellectual nourishment and how education is life and part of life.

We are so grateful to the teachers, truly your labour is not in vain
