Why we do what we do?

Grandparents

Grandparents' Day

Grandparents' Morning

“What children need most are the essentials that grandparents provide in abundance. They give unconditional love, kindness, patience, humor, comfort, lessons in life. And, most importantly, cookies.” —Rudy Giuliani

Throughout history, grandparents have played a central role in the lives of their children and grandchildren and we want to honour them for all they do.  Today, let’s take a few moments to stop and reflect on the value of grandparents—past or present.   Honoring our grandparents is essential because it acknowledges their wisdom, preserves our family heritage, recognizes their unconditional love and support, provides role models, fosters intergenerational connections, and expresses gratitude and appreciation.

What a special time we always have on Grandparents' Day when the Pre-School and Grade 1 students’ Grandparents come to visit us.  They start by spending time in theri grandchild's class observing them engaging with and responding to ideas in an Ambleside classroom before going to the hall to be served tea and snacks by the Grade 7 students.  They then listen to the students entertaining them with recitations as well as hearing a very inspiring talk.
