The Gazania family is one of South Africa's indigenous gems that provide unbeatable colour. They are known as 'Botterblomme' in Afrikaans and are often referred to as 'Treasure Flowers' in English. Gazanias are evergreen, herbaceous perennials that are clump-forming.

Blossoms open during the day and close at night, so they are not useful as cut flowers.
