Social Responsibility is described as :
'... an ethical framework in which an individual is obligated to work and cooperate with other individuals and organisations for the benefit of the community that will inherit the world that individual leaves behind. It is a duty that every individual has to maintain; a balance between the economy and the ecosystem one lives within.' — https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Social_responsibility
At Ambleside, students live in relationship with God, self, and others. We place God at the centre of all that we do. As we receive God’s love, it overflows to others.
Our social responsibility, our love in action could be seen by our Grade 7 students who took great joy in spending a day with the pupils from Trinity Children’s Centre.
The day started with the Grade 7 pupils from both schools interacting in a fun and meaningful way:
- They played “blanket volley” to break the ice and learn each other’s names.
- Our pupils delighted in reading short stories to the younger students.
- They continued in fellowship through a workshop about friendship where the Bible was used to help guide discussions.
- Our Grade 7s felt it an honour to be invited to join TCC in sharing lunch together like a family.
- The day concluded by participating in one last team building exercise.
At Ambleside (adapted from the philosophy of education of Charlotte Mason), we often reflect on:
“The question is not, — how much does the youth know? when he has finished his education — but how much does he care? and about how many orders of things does he care? In fact, how large is the room in which he finds his feet set? and, therefore, how full is the life he has before him?”
— Charlotte Mason
